Churchill Downs isn’t ready for change

Change is something you have to embrace at times. However, the Kentucky Derby has done the opposite. The selfie stick and photo drones have been banned from Churchill Downs for the race.

Both of these devices have taken the photography world by storm creating new vantage points and angles to capture images.

The track has also changed their policy on re-entry. Prior to this year the track allowed patrons to leave and re-enter as they pleased on race day.  They said the old policy allowed counterfeiters to rip off people.

As technology continues to expand sporting events will have to change their policy’s. While events like the Derby are rooted in history and tradition they will have to facilitate the current trends that are going on.
